Is This the End of Human Musicians? AI Music is Here.

This is how we create our rap song

Okay, this is getting weird. Computers are writing songs now. Like, actual catchy tunes that could be on the radio.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Well, it depends on who you ask.

For musicians, it might be a nightmare. But for businesses that need background music for videos? This could be a game-changer.

AI is about to change the soundtrack of our lives.

It's already picking your favorite songs, predicting what you'll like next, and even helping artists polish their tracks.

In this case study, we're diving into how AI is shaking up the music world.

Whether you're a musician, a massive music fan, or just want to use AI to find your next jam – this one's for you!

What is AI Music?

This changes EVERYTHING for the music industry—how we create, how we listen, how we get paid.

What is AI Music, Anyway?

It's NOT robot bands. AI analyzes tons of music, learns the patterns, then writes its own tunes. Think of it as a super-powered songwriting partner.

How AI Music Is Made?

  • Feed the Beast: We give the AI tons of music – whatever vibe we want.

  • Pattern Master: AI spots the patterns – how chords fit, how melodies stick...

  • Song's Born: Now it creates something! Humans still polish it up, but the core ideas are all AI.

Why You Should Give a Damn?

  • Inspiration Drought?

AI helps you bust out of that creative rut.

  • Need Video Music ASAP?

AI's got decent tracks, fast and cheap.

  • Weird Sound Junkie?

AI makes stuff no human would think of...and sometimes, it's mind-blowing.

Music Industry Stats: Musicians Are All In

Here's the thing, this ain't some fringe trend:

Think about creating melodies, beats, and even full tracks.

Over half are down to using AI for mixing and mastering. AI can polish your tracks for that pro sound.

Bottom line: AI is rapidly becoming a hot new tool for music creators.

Proof AI's Taking Over (Mind-blowing Tracks)

This sparked a whole ethics debate! AI faked Drake, The Weeknd, AND Jay-Z so well, some couldn't tell the difference.

Pop star? Nope, total AI influencer. But hey, her music's catchy. Makes you wonder what else is fake...

Japan's miles ahead. Miku's a virtual idol, huge fanbase, and proof that machine-made pop can be perfect.

Could AI write a Beatles song? Well, they tried. Results are...interesting. Now imagine what this does in a few years.

This is where it gets cool – human lyrics + AI music = legit pop song. Proof AI can be a creative partner, not a replacement.

Your AI Music ToolKit

AI music is exploding. Too many apps, too much hype? Let's cut through the noise.

Here's how these tools ACTUALLY work (and which ones are worth your time):

Text-to-Music Software

These turn your words into songs. As of 2024, a few actually sound decent.

AudioCipher (VST plugin): Write some lyrics, get chords and a melody. Tweak it in your DAW. Not magic, but a good idea generator. ($29 one-time). Here is a quick tutorial.

Suno AI (web app): Best lyrics-to-song tool out there. Get surprisingly good tunes fast. Still pretty robotic, but great for inspiration. (Free, then $10/mo) (Tutorial)

Splash Music (web app): AI beats, even an AI rapper (kinda cheesy). Good if you're making electronic music, but quality varies. ($10/mo)

Others like Riffusion and Mubert exist, but the ones above are the best for now.

AI Mixing and Mastering

These claim to make your tracks sound pro. Results vary, but can be useful.

Landr (web app): Easy AI mastering, good for beginners

Lots of smart plugins out there too – check MusicRadar's list

The Future: AI DAWs

These are still new, but the idea is wild: AI helps you write, mix, and finish tracks.

WavTool - the first with a GPT-4 music assistant. Tell it what to make, it does it. Still early, but promising ($20/mo) (Tutorial)

Audio Design Desk is Built for sound design, but AI makes it way faster. If you score videos, this is a game changer. (Starts at $9/mo) (Tutorial)

Want to Make Music the "Old-Fashioned" Way?

AI can help with that too:

Stem splitters (like Lalal.ai): Isolate vocals from a song, great for samples

Audio-to-MIDI converters

(Samplab, Melodyne): Transcribe your playing into editable notes, good for learning a tricky riff.

AI Music Apps for Beginners

These are super simple if you have zero music experience:

Soundraw, Boomy, Soundful, etc. – Generate background tracks fast. Quality can be iffy, but it's good for quick videos

This Is How We Created Our Rap Song

Our favourite music tool is Udio.
Even better, it is now in beta and completely free.
You have over 1000 minutes to generate stunning music.

My Life My Rules, by Sabahudin Murtic

So, how did I create this song?

  1. Step

Go to the ChatGPT for some lyrics and inspiration.

  1. Step

Go to Udio and copy and paste the same prompt from ChatGPT, where you can add music genres like hip-hop, G-Funk, and Gansta Rap in this case.

The idea is to hit the right beat with a specific genre.

Then copy the lyrics in Udio you got previously from ChatGpt.

Prompt: hip hop, You are familiar with the most well-known French and British musicians from the French Drill music movement. The song needs to be in that beat created, inspired by UK rap drill. The song is about a young refugee from the Balkans who grows up on the streets of London. He was a poor young man with lofty aspirations who struggled greatly. He almost died three times, and when he was younger, he was a member of the gang. He was desperate and lost. He began writing songs and sharing his experiences with hardship. He made the decision to establish his own rules and take charge of his life. He is now a successful writer, rapper, and performer behind his own curtains. He contrasts his struggles with his current wealth, conveying a powerful message through his music and serving as an example of how an artist can have a strong enough character to survive on their own terms. , gangsta rap, g-funk,

  1. Step

You can always extend the duration of the music.

You have the option of starting with 350 characters. So, once you have finished, simply click extend to add the rest of the lyrics.

  1. Step

If you are happy with the audio results, now you can create the cover for the song.

Simply click on the icon Edit Image and prompt your image.

In this case, this was our prompt for the cover image.

Here's a detailed prompt for creating an image that could serve as the cover for the song "My Life My Rules":

**Prompt:**
Create a dramatic and impactful image for a hip hop song cover titled "My Life My Rules". The artwork features a young man standing confidently in the foreground of a gritty, urban London street scene at night. He is of Balkan descent with short dark hair and wears stylish streetwear, possibly a leather jacket and jeans. Behind him, the iconic silhouette of London, including a faint outline of Big Ben, blends into a dark sky. The street is dimly lit by streetlights casting long shadows, and graffiti art is visible on the walls, symbolizing his tough journey from hardship to success. The overall mood is gritty and triumphant, capturing the essence of overcoming adversity.

I will be happy to hear your feedback

This is Just the Beginning

AI is reshaping how we make, find, and share music. Artists, producers, even just music

But...There Are Challenges

Quality (For Now): AI music can lack originality. Best for inspiration, not your next Grammy contender.

Ethics: Who owns AI-generated music? How do we fairly compensate artists?

The "Human Touch": Can AI ever truly capture the emotion that makes music powerful?

3 Things You Can Do Right Now

  1. Stop reading this, go make a terrible AI song! Then share it – the best way to learn is by doing.

  2. Think Like a Creator: How could AI boost your projects? A YouTube soundtrack? A silly birthday song?

  3. Tell Me What You Discover: Did you find a cool tool? Create something you're proud of? Let's learn from each other!

The AI Ethics Dilemma

This new tech is exciting, but also raises tough questions:

Who Owns the Music? The law hasn't caught up yet.

Could AI Make It Harder for Artists to Get Paid? That's a real concern.

Deepfakes and Misinformation: Imagine an AI tool perfectly mimicking a celebrity's voice...

It's not all doom and gloom.

This is a complex topic, and smarter people than me are figuring it out. Want to dig deeper? Google how AI is screwing over musicians and see what comes up.

What do you think? Does a particular ethical issue bother you about AI music?
